Description

The Selec 800SD / 800SD-2 is a compact, DIN-rail-mounted Star-Delta transition timer designed for motor starting applications where reduced inrush current and smooth acceleration are required. It automates the sequence of energizing the Star contactor, timing the motor run-up period, switching through a short, adjustable transition delay, and finally energizing the Delta contactor.

The device provides two independent change-over relay outputs—one for the Star stage and one for the Delta stage—allowing safe and reliable interlocking of motor-starting contactors. Status LEDs on the front panel clearly show whether the timer is in the Star or Delta phase, aiding diagnostics and commissioning.

Timing flexibility is provided through onboard switches that allow technicians to select between 30 s or 60 s motor run-up durations, as well as 50 ms or 100 ms changeover intervals, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of motor sizes and inertia characteristics. The unit also features excellent accuracy, maintaining a ±5% setting tolerance and ±0.5% repeatability, making it suitable for industrial automation where consistent operation is essential.

The 800SD series supports multiple AC supply ranges, including 110V, 230V, and 230–415V versions, and maintains low power consumption at approximately 10 VA. Designed for harsh environments, it operates reliably between 0°C and 50°C, tolerates up to 95% relative humidity, and offers IP50 front protection.

Housed in a slim 22.5 mm DIN enclosure, the 800SD is easy to integrate into control panels with tight spacing requirements. It automatically resets on power interruption, ensuring safe startup behavior after outages. With a contact rating of 5 A at 230 V AC resistive, the relays are well-suited for driving control-circuit contactors in industrial motor-starter systems.
